Vacation

I want one. I have not taken a real vacation since my senior year of high school (and that was 3 whopping nights in Mexico). Oh wait, I did go snow skiing my sophomore year of college with the UT water ski team, so I will call that a vacation too (again, I think it was 3 nights and also included the awesome drive to and from Colorado). Besides that, all my travel in the last decade has revolved first around waterskiing and now around swimming, biking, and/or running. Most of the time I have fun on those trips (and have gotten to do/see some pretty neat things because of skiing and triathlons), but they are far from relaxing and I rarely get to spend much time after the race relaxing or doing anything fun because I do not have tons of vacation time. That is changing as of Jan 1, when I get more vacation, and I will get even more starting next October. Now, I just need somewhere to go and someone to go with me. Preferably somewhere with a beach. Oh, I guess I might need some money too. I do not have much of that after purchasing the Pink Destroyer (would have been good for an all-inclusive climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro - not that I looked into that or anything) and Christmas presents for everyone. But I like my bike and love buying presents so I guess I'll have to continue to "vacation" in Beaumont and Austin for a little while longer.

Windjammer Barefoot Cruise is the best vacation I have ever been on -- by far! Lots of relaxation. Lots of sun and beaches. But also plenty to do and fun folks (not your typical old person cruise).

Just a suggestion :-).

Ok, so I am in love with Cozumel. I HIGHLY recommend it as a great vacation. You can do the all inclusive resort thing or you can rent a villa for a week for a lot less money which has a kitchen and some even have a washer and dryer. You can walk to the grocery store and everything is silly cheap compared to here in the states. The cabs are inexpensive if you want to go down to one of the beaches where all the chairs and umbrellas are FREE. A bucket of Coronas will set you back $15.00 and you can order fajitas on the beach for lunch for $10.00 or so. The cruise ships are in during the day, but after 4:45 the island is quiet. It is very relaxing. You can scuba/snorkel to your heart's content, swim with the dolphins, go see some Mayan ruins, and if you want, you can hop the ferry for a 30 minute boat ride over to Playa del Carmen and see the ruins at Tulum. The flight is only 2 hours. All you need is a passport and a bikini!

I am trying to figure out a way to go back as quickly as possible.

Ironman in verse

This is what I wrote and secretly put under everyone's doors tonight: The big day is almost here! Long it will be, but have no fear. You have put in miles and miles And will finish amidst numerous smiles. The hard work is over and done. Now is the time for nothing but fun. May your spirits be high throughout the day, And may nothing come along to stand in your way. Ironman is as much about the journey as the destination, And you will be rewarded for all of your determination. Hand-in-hand we will all jump in, Eagerly treading water as we wait to begin. At 7am the cannon will blast But be sure not to go out too fast. The cool water will run over your face, As you are now committed to the race. The Rural Bridge will seem so far away But keep those negative thoughts at bay. Once you turn around and head west To the Mill Ave. Bridge you go, trying your best. 2.4 miles will be over before you know it, And you will start to realize your thoughts of Iron are truly legit. On to the bike, f...

We did it!

Still here. Still infertile.

Sigh.  Here we are again.  We knew all along we would be able to start the process for baby #2 when Sloane was nine months old.  I had said we did not necessarily want kids that close together, but knew just because we started then did not mean we would get pregnant then.  If I had only known how true that is becoming.  Silly us had started having visions of three kids.  The only way we can have three kids is to have things go smoothly, not lose embryos, and not lose time.  Well, so far we have lost an embryo and a lot of time in the quest for our next baby. I breezed through prep for our transfer in early May.  The stress load was so much less than before because I thought we had it figured out.  We had Sloane as a great distraction.  My lining was better than it has ever been before - by far.  Then, the day after Mother's Day, I found out it did not work.  And I was immediately thrown back into the depths of infertility hell....
