Tour de Houston and Tour de Trailer Park

Saturday was one of the prettiest days we've had in Houston in quite a while. A bit hot if anything, but I'm not complaining.

I rode the Tour de Houston organized bike ride Saturday morning and had a really good time. It was advertised as a 70 mile route going mainly up and down the Hardy Toll Road. How often do you get to ride on the toll road? The ride was good and the wind wasn't super strong. I saw various Houston Racing members throughout the ride, but never really stuck with anyone. Also, my plan to shamelessly draft never came to fruition because people were all over the place and I never found anyone keeping a steady speed or a straight line! We had a bit of a cross/head wind on the way out, but nothing to complain about, and the tail wind on the way home was nice. I ended up flying on the way back and was holding 25mph for decent stretches at a time. That certainly never happens. I was at 17.9mph average when I got off the tollroad and tried soooo hard to get it up to 18.0 to finish the ride, but the potholes almost got the best of me and I figured it wasn't exactly safe to ride aero through the obstacle course we call Hardy Road. The course ended up a bit short too - only 64 miles, but I'll take it. My legs needed the break. Speaking of break, the little time I took off last week did wonders for my legs. Saturday was the first time I had done a long ride on fresh legs and it felt WONDERFUL! I was so relieved to see that my legs do actually work when I haven't run long the day before.
Saturday afternoon we headed to Twin Lakes RV Resort and Scuba Park- Houston Racing's favorite vacation spot. A number of the IMAZ group showed up and we had a good time. I swam 2 laps (~2000 meters) and called it a day. The water was still cold, but just fine in a wetsuit on a day with record high temps. I took my wetsuit off before I got out and floated around for a while to "ice" my legs. Andy and Bob came prepared with quite the feast and we cooked fajitas and had a little picnic overlooking the lake and the lovely trailers on the other side. Of course I made my required brownies as well. All in all, it was an awesome day!

Still here. Still infertile.

Sigh.  Here we are again.  We knew all along we would be able to start the process for baby #2 when Sloane was nine months old.  I had said we did not necessarily want kids that close together, but knew just because we started then did not mean we would get pregnant then.  If I had only known how true that is becoming.  Silly us had started having visions of three kids.  The only way we can have three kids is to have things go smoothly, not lose embryos, and not lose time.  Well, so far we have lost an embryo and a lot of time in the quest for our next baby. I breezed through prep for our transfer in early May.  The stress load was so much less than before because I thought we had it figured out.  We had Sloane as a great distraction.  My lining was better than it has ever been before - by far.  Then, the day after Mother's Day, I found out it did not work.  And I was immediately thrown back into the depths of infertility hell....

Into the Donor Egg World We Go

As I sit down to write this, I'm shocked to see February 27, 2022 was the last post I've written about our IVF journey.  In some ways, it seems like so much has happened over the last year, and on the other hand it seems like nothing has happened at all because we are back to square one. I'll provide a quick summary of the last year, but please understand this won't even begin to describe the true roller coaster ride we have been on.  I actually don't think it is even appropriate to call it a roller coaster because that indicates there are some ups.  Our ride has been more like a train ride through hell. After our failed transfer in February, we decided to take a break in March to let my body rest a bit before transferring our next embryo.  During that time, a friend reached out and told me about her friend that hadn't had success here but did at CCRM in Colorado.  At the time it almost felt like a divine intervention, but I now know better.  We spent seven...

We did it!
