20 Minute Workout--Rock Solid Abs
The first installment in our 20-minute workout series will give you a bulletproof core
Jenny Everett, workout by Amy Dixon
You've been obsessing over your abs for almost two decades. That ends now. Because we laid out a foolproof plan to kick those elusive buggers out of hiding. Finally. Why's our plan so damn effective? Because it hits your entire core--not just your abs but the muscles that support the spine--from all angles with a variety of moves that challenge your stability, balance, and rotational strength. As for results: Do the moves two to three nonconsecutive days a week and you'll notice a flat-out hot difference in just 30 days. And here's even better news: Right here every month, you'll find a brand-new workout instruction focused on a different goal--so you can transform your entire body by the end of the year. All of these workouts are designed by WH fitness columnist Amy Dixon, an exercise physiologist and a group fitness manager for Equinox in Santa Monica, California. Apply her genius and marvel at the results.

Ouch! I tried out this new workout I got in my most recent edition of Women's Health magazine during lunch on Tuesday. As I was doing the exercises, I was thinking "this isn't really doing much." I didn't really feel much of anything but awkward when I was doing them. Then Tuesday night rolled around. My abs already started talking to me. They have only gotten worse since then! Last night I couldn't even lift my head in bed because they hurt so bad. This morning I just coughed and nearly fell out of my chair. So, I guess it is safe to say the workout is effective. I am going to switch out exercises #6 and #7 for other similar exercises because I fell off the ball and landed on my coffee table when trying #6, and #7 just didn't do it for me. But, I'm taking the challenge! They say if I do the workout 2-3 times for a month I will have noticeable results. My coworker Roxzan is on the "Rock Solid Abs" bandwagon too. We will see how long this actually lasts, but so far, so good, and so painful!

After day 1 of "Rock Solid Abs" I now feel pain all over... I may have mocked the 30 day challege when I agreed, but if this is how I feel from 1 day then maybe that picture really will be what my abs look like! (They are just SO close already :) ) When I wiped off the ball during move 5 I modified it to have my forearm on the ball for more stability. See if that helps. - Roxzan

That second, headless picture of your abs is incredible.

That is you, right?

Um, I did this and I was not in the type of pain that you are talking about.

But then again I am a full time fitness professional and Pilates trainer.

LOVE the side planks!!!

Those positions look... weird. I'd be afraid of injury if I did them.

Ab pain is the worst-- you think it's not going to come and then it knocks you on your hiney. I'm sure you'll be doing that stuff with ease in no time. And you DO have nice abs.

Not that I've been looking or anything.

Still here. Still infertile.

Sigh.  Here we are again.  We knew all along we would be able to start the process for baby #2 when Sloane was nine months old.  I had said we did not necessarily want kids that close together, but knew just because we started then did not mean we would get pregnant then.  If I had only known how true that is becoming.  Silly us had started having visions of three kids.  The only way we can have three kids is to have things go smoothly, not lose embryos, and not lose time.  Well, so far we have lost an embryo and a lot of time in the quest for our next baby. I breezed through prep for our transfer in early May.  The stress load was so much less than before because I thought we had it figured out.  We had Sloane as a great distraction.  My lining was better than it has ever been before - by far.  Then, the day after Mother's Day, I found out it did not work.  And I was immediately thrown back into the depths of infertility hell....

Into the Donor Egg World We Go

As I sit down to write this, I'm shocked to see February 27, 2022 was the last post I've written about our IVF journey.  In some ways, it seems like so much has happened over the last year, and on the other hand it seems like nothing has happened at all because we are back to square one. I'll provide a quick summary of the last year, but please understand this won't even begin to describe the true roller coaster ride we have been on.  I actually don't think it is even appropriate to call it a roller coaster because that indicates there are some ups.  Our ride has been more like a train ride through hell. After our failed transfer in February, we decided to take a break in March to let my body rest a bit before transferring our next embryo.  During that time, a friend reached out and told me about her friend that hadn't had success here but did at CCRM in Colorado.  At the time it almost felt like a divine intervention, but I now know better.  We spent seven...

We did it!
