9 Things I'm Worried About

9 days to go and I'm still eating like a cow and starving when I'm not actively feeding myself. I have also gained a few solid lbs. Hmmm....

So here's a list of 9 things I'm worried about right now:

1. That I won't meet my expectations for myself and the expectations others have for me
2. That I haven't run enough in the past few weeks
3. That my bike will spontaneously combust while I'm on the bike course
4. That I will fall in a hole or do something stupid to get hurt between now and the 13th (I did run into a yellow concrete pole during the run at the sprint last weekend)
5. That I will let other people take away from my race day glory
6. That I'm going to get sick sometime between now and the 13th
7. That everyone I have trained with will finish way ahead of me and not be at the finish line because they are off in a bar drinking somewhere
8. That I don't have enough time in the next 9 days to take care of everything I need to
9. I can't think of a #9...should I have a #9? Ok I'm worried that I'm not worrying about everything that I should be worrying about right now.

You are surrounded by a 6 foot bubble. The only thing inside the bubble is you, your training, and all your confidence. Nothing that goes on outside the bubble and no one existing outside the bubble can get in or effect you in any way. Everything just slides right off the bubble as you keep moving forward to the finish line, which is yours by right.

You have done the work and you will succeed no matter what. Just focus on being prepared and try let go of the things you can't control (which is a lot of your list). We love you and will be supporting you no matter what. And I will be at the FINISH LINE for you!!!

Kathleen: I am probably the person that #5 will cover. Everyone will be home in bed when I finish.
You have worked too hard on your training plus being so helpful no one can take any glory from you. See you in Tempe. frank

Now that you've expressed those worries--let them go!!!!!!! No one will take YOUR DAY away from you unless you allow it to happen. Stop doubting...you are ready.

You are going to do awesome. Have action plans in place in case the "worst case scenario" happens so that you are ready and prepared to handle it. Take a deep breath. You have done this race before. You are prepared. You will not be at the finish line alone. Think positive from now until the race.

Smile as much as you can on race day, and thank all the volunteers. Think of all the people who only wish that they could be doing what you are doing and how lucky you are that you have the ability to do that race and that you have influenced so many people to join you in Tempe.

Go get 'em!!!

Still here. Still infertile.

Sigh.  Here we are again.  We knew all along we would be able to start the process for baby #2 when Sloane was nine months old.  I had said we did not necessarily want kids that close together, but knew just because we started then did not mean we would get pregnant then.  If I had only known how true that is becoming.  Silly us had started having visions of three kids.  The only way we can have three kids is to have things go smoothly, not lose embryos, and not lose time.  Well, so far we have lost an embryo and a lot of time in the quest for our next baby. I breezed through prep for our transfer in early May.  The stress load was so much less than before because I thought we had it figured out.  We had Sloane as a great distraction.  My lining was better than it has ever been before - by far.  Then, the day after Mother's Day, I found out it did not work.  And I was immediately thrown back into the depths of infertility hell....

Into the Donor Egg World We Go

As I sit down to write this, I'm shocked to see February 27, 2022 was the last post I've written about our IVF journey.  In some ways, it seems like so much has happened over the last year, and on the other hand it seems like nothing has happened at all because we are back to square one. I'll provide a quick summary of the last year, but please understand this won't even begin to describe the true roller coaster ride we have been on.  I actually don't think it is even appropriate to call it a roller coaster because that indicates there are some ups.  Our ride has been more like a train ride through hell. After our failed transfer in February, we decided to take a break in March to let my body rest a bit before transferring our next embryo.  During that time, a friend reached out and told me about her friend that hadn't had success here but did at CCRM in Colorado.  At the time it almost felt like a divine intervention, but I now know better.  We spent seven...

We did it!
