8 Reasons I'm Going to Kick Butt!!

1. I'm strong, tough, and fierce.
2. I pinked my ride.
3. I've put in the work. I deserve this.
4. I have gone through some pretty tough times over the last 6 months, yet managed to pull out 10 PR's through the process, far surpassing my goals in 10 of the 12 races I have done in that time period. The 2 races that didn't go as well were both my third race in as many weeks on hot humid Houston days. I'm not going to worry about those 2 - I'm going with the 10. I haven't just met my goals in each of these races, I have smashed them.
5. I completed 4 century rides in training this year. Last year I did 1.
6. I had strong 18 and 20 mile training runs (the 20 miler run faster than marathon pace). Last year my longest run was 16 miles.
7. I have put my race on hold at 2 different races in the last month to help someone else. Surely karma can help me out there!
8. I'm racing several lbs lighter than last year - lbs that I shed last fall as part of finding my identity as the "new Kathleen"

Today was my last bike ride before packing up my bike to send off on Tri Bike Transport. I rode with the Sugar Cycles crew along with Chad, Michelle, and Shellie. I had no idea where we were going or how far and it was fabulous. Sometimes it is fun to totally give up all control and just literally sit back and enjoy the ride. I think we ended up going around 32 miles. We headed to Twin Lakes afterwards, first stopping at Starbucks to get some warm drinks to thaw us out. Funny our last training ride of the season was one of our coldest.

It took a while to find motivation to jump into a 60-something degree lake on a cloudy 60 degree morning. We finally did and I swam ~2000m. Of course, no lie, the second I got out of the water the sun came out. The temp rose 10 degrees in the 20 minutes it took me to get home and now that I'm settling in for a nap it is a gorgeous day.

I cleaned up my bike a bit before taking it to Bikesport for its little journey to Tempe. It cleaned up pretty nice, if you ask me!

You should have put this up 100 days ago... there are way more reasons for why you're going to kick butt than 8. There are probably more than 100, but I'm bad at math.

You're going to be amazing next weekend! You've had the heart and the ability all along-- I'm glad that you finally realize it. Kick some bootay!

HEY!

I saw you out on your ride this morning. I did a swim with my gang out at Twin Lakes and we went over to Manvel HS to go run and I saw some pretty slick triathletes peddaling by.

Nice flowers. How can I get flames on my bike???

Go, hot pants, Go!!

(Note to self: she's put the pink stickers on the tri-spoke wheels that would have worked nicely on my bike.)

Still here. Still infertile.

Sigh.  Here we are again.  We knew all along we would be able to start the process for baby #2 when Sloane was nine months old.  I had said we did not necessarily want kids that close together, but knew just because we started then did not mean we would get pregnant then.  If I had only known how true that is becoming.  Silly us had started having visions of three kids.  The only way we can have three kids is to have things go smoothly, not lose embryos, and not lose time.  Well, so far we have lost an embryo and a lot of time in the quest for our next baby. I breezed through prep for our transfer in early May.  The stress load was so much less than before because I thought we had it figured out.  We had Sloane as a great distraction.  My lining was better than it has ever been before - by far.  Then, the day after Mother's Day, I found out it did not work.  And I was immediately thrown back into the depths of infertility hell....

Into the Donor Egg World We Go

As I sit down to write this, I'm shocked to see February 27, 2022 was the last post I've written about our IVF journey.  In some ways, it seems like so much has happened over the last year, and on the other hand it seems like nothing has happened at all because we are back to square one. I'll provide a quick summary of the last year, but please understand this won't even begin to describe the true roller coaster ride we have been on.  I actually don't think it is even appropriate to call it a roller coaster because that indicates there are some ups.  Our ride has been more like a train ride through hell. After our failed transfer in February, we decided to take a break in March to let my body rest a bit before transferring our next embryo.  During that time, a friend reached out and told me about her friend that hadn't had success here but did at CCRM in Colorado.  At the time it almost felt like a divine intervention, but I now know better.  We spent seven...

We did it!
