(just for a little while)
My muscles have no interest in doing anything other than nothing right now. Wednesday when I had my workout with my trainer, I could barely lift half the weight she had for me - I had to get lighter weights on almost everything we did. I think by the end, lifting a piece of paper would have been too much for me. I had not eaten enough before my run and then that workout, but could also tell the fatigue was from more than just one day of not eating enough - the past few weeks were starting to catch up. I swam Thursday instead of my planned brick, and then did a short 30 minute ride Friday. My run Saturday wasn't great, but I stopped my garmin at mile 2 and forgot to restart it, so I honestly have no idea how slow or fast it was...I just know my legs didn't feel great. My ride on Sunday was okay (nothing special, but nothing awful either), and Monica and I even did a short run after, so I had kind of forgotten how tired I was.
I remembered again today, in a big way. I took my first Define class and had a very, very hard time. I know the first time at any kind of new workout is going to be tough, but today was more than first-timer trouble. It was flat out muscle failure - very premature muscle failure. I have lost over 7 lbs in two weeks and guess that is catching up with me too. That is just more than most any girl needs to be losing in that little time (the weight was definitely there to lose, just probably not that fast). I hope this is nothing a bag of Uh-Oh Oreos, a massage, and a day or two of rest can't fix. No doubt my body needs more TLC than I have been giving it lately.
In more positive news, I finally went to the St. Luke's Sunday evening church service yesterday and really really liked it. I wish I had started going before now - Sunday nights used to not work out, but now they do, so I guess it is better late than never! The service was held in their chapel and was very small and intimate. The associate pastor who leads the service is also in charge of the young adult ministry at St. Luke's. I introduced myself afterward and will probably meet up with her sometime in the near future to learn a bit more about the programs there and how some of them could hopefully fit into my very un-holy triathlon training schedule!
