Update on My Friends' Lives!

Enough about me, now for my friends.

I have obviously been somewhat MIA on my blog, but recently I've also been MIA on all my friends' blogs.  Wow - they have done a lot - and I want to share!

Liz had a smokin' PR at the Seattle Rock n Roll Marathon.

Jeremy just took care of some "unfinished business" at IMCDA.  Jeremy was hit by a car training for his first half ironman in 2007.  It was bad.  But, in true ironheart fashion, he not only came back, but came back at twice the distance of that race he was training for.  He had not yet done a half ironman by the time CDA came along - he wanted to "finish what he started" three years ago in a GRAND way.  And that, he did. His hometown newspaper also wrote a nice article about his journey the week before his race.  I'm sure that was no pressure or anything!

Greg.  This one really needs a post of its own, and hopefully it will get one soon.  Greg was married to Stephanie Johnson.  I frequently wrote about them in my cancer sucks posts.  Stephanie passed away in 2008 after a long battle.  Greg has cancer now.  How is that possible?  I will let you read about the rest of his story on his blog, but most of all, please please keep him and his family in your prayers.

Lisa has gotten her running mojo back, no question.  She also continues to be an awesome mother to Sarah and Jessica and I enjoy reading about their daily lives - often it is quite humorous!  This post with a few videos is particularly funny - both the bike grease covering the girls and the learning to jump.

June V. is continuing to run up a storm.  I think she's going to do something huge in Chicago in October!

Oooohhhhh - and how could I forget?  About half of my friends (literally...maybe I should branch out more...or maybe that is exactly how it should be?) signed up for IRONMAN TEXAS.  Ironman Texas is coming to The Woodlands May 21, 2011.  An Ironman in my backyard (or, well, soon to be about 180 miles from my backyard...but that is still considered backyard in ironman terms)?  Awesome.  The rumors have been swirling for quite a while and we were all very very excited at the prospect.  I think it is a great place to have an Ironman - especially for the spectators.  Also, I think my nieces will be able to come see me race for the first time.  That alone is beyond exciting.  However, one small detail.  One that could involve death for any of the parties involved.  MAY.  THE END OF MAY.  Seriously?  So, I'm one of the idiots that paid $630 to start running a marathon sometime around 3pm in SE Texas at the end of May.  I really hope I live to see May 22, 2011.  I also hope all my friends do too.  Something that could have been so awesome now may not be quite as awesome because some genius decided May was a great time for a 9-17 hour endurance race in SE Texas.  I  am also a genius for signing up for it.  I have reserved the right to complain about it for the next 11 months, but realize I may lose some of those iron friends if I really do so.  So, I won't complain for the entire 11 months.  I actually think we'll forget about it come training time, and our training actually won't be bad at all - if anything it will be cold at the start.  Our biggest training will come during April, when it still won't be that hot.  We will have to figure out how to best acclimate to the climbing heat while trying to taper for the race.  Christy, Will, Liz, Greyhound, Cassie, Carrie, Philip, Anne, Jeremy, Greg, and June T are all signed up - and those are just the ones I know with blogs!  Let me know if I left someone off - it is highly possible.  I think it is going to be awesome seeing so many familiar faces both on and off the course that day.  The neat little treat I get with that too is that I will not only have my Houston friends to see, I'll hopefully have a new group of Austin friends out there as well.  I think it is safe to say I'll know more people at this race than any other race ever - that is awesome!

I am serious, SERIOUSLY considering renting a commercial grade ice making machine for all the necessary ice baths training for that race and cooling down all my friends on May 21. No joke.

It will also come in handy for cooling down all the beer. Don't be a stranger. You know you have an open invite to Greyhound central when you come in from Austin to train on the course.

Still shocked about Greg. That is awful and horrible beyond belief.

I'm so excited about Ironman Texas. I'm planning to come volunteer. Finish line catcher anyone?

Thanks for the shout out too. I'm glad you enjoy the S&J chronicles. :)

That is really sad news about Greg. I'll keep him and his family in my thoughts and prayers.

Love the videos of Sarah and Jessica. I try to keep up with everyone but missed those videos before now. Very cute.

You have every right to complain the entire 11 months! I bet they will end up changing the date in the future like they did for Arizona.

Thanks for the shout-out on my PR and I LOVE the fact that there will be lots of great friends out on the race course on May 21st.

A very smart man told me, "Weather? What weather? We make our own weather." We will own the heat on that day and savor it.

Still here. Still infertile.

Sigh.  Here we are again.  We knew all along we would be able to start the process for baby #2 when Sloane was nine months old.  I had said we did not necessarily want kids that close together, but knew just because we started then did not mean we would get pregnant then.  If I had only known how true that is becoming.  Silly us had started having visions of three kids.  The only way we can have three kids is to have things go smoothly, not lose embryos, and not lose time.  Well, so far we have lost an embryo and a lot of time in the quest for our next baby. I breezed through prep for our transfer in early May.  The stress load was so much less than before because I thought we had it figured out.  We had Sloane as a great distraction.  My lining was better than it has ever been before - by far.  Then, the day after Mother's Day, I found out it did not work.  And I was immediately thrown back into the depths of infertility hell....

Into the Donor Egg World We Go

As I sit down to write this, I'm shocked to see February 27, 2022 was the last post I've written about our IVF journey.  In some ways, it seems like so much has happened over the last year, and on the other hand it seems like nothing has happened at all because we are back to square one. I'll provide a quick summary of the last year, but please understand this won't even begin to describe the true roller coaster ride we have been on.  I actually don't think it is even appropriate to call it a roller coaster because that indicates there are some ups.  Our ride has been more like a train ride through hell. After our failed transfer in February, we decided to take a break in March to let my body rest a bit before transferring our next embryo.  During that time, a friend reached out and told me about her friend that hadn't had success here but did at CCRM in Colorado.  At the time it almost felt like a divine intervention, but I now know better.  We spent seven...

We did it!
