Checking In!

Goodness - there is so much to say, but I'm beyond too tired to say it all!  Below are a few highlights from my first week or so in Austin:

-  I did my first T3 ride Saturday.  We rode a "flatter" route and it still kicked my tail.  Kim and Tim were both in town so it was a treat to have old friends in my new place.  Near the end of the ride, I comforted myself by thinking "well, it can only get better from here" when I was dying.  The Austin terrain is either going to kill me or make me stronger...let's hope for the latter!
-  Tonight I tried out the PAC tri group and it was awesome.  If I do their Tues/Thu open water swims and spin class on a regular basis I'm going to be ready to at least kick my own butt before too long (not necessarily sure about anyone else's though!).  I was also greeted with a huge rainbow as I walked on the little trail down to the lake on my way to the swim workout.  Doing a full workout in a lake as opposed to a pool was quite interesting, but I think will prove to be quite beneficial.  You never fully rest because there is no wall to hang on to - you are treading water or swimming the entire time.
-  Kim and I did our long run from my apartment Sunday morning.  It was such a joy.  Our run included a little over 2 miles on the Barton Creek Greenbelt, 4-5 miles around Town Lake, a few more miles here and there, and a nice stop at Tacodeli for breakfast on the way home.  Tacodeli is right at a mile from my apartment, and it is entirely uphill to get home, so why not just stop there, eat, and have to walk home instead of trying to run up that hill?
-  I have lots of bag packing to do these days.  Not coming home for 12-14 hours at a time during the day requires lots of bags with lots of food, spandex, water bottles, and electronics.
-  I miss my third closet...even the two I have here are smaller than the ones I used to have.
-  On the other hand, I love my bedroom and living room in my new place - they seem very light and airy.
-  I'm "trying out" two new running buddies Thursday night - or more like they are probably trying me out!  Hopefully I get invited back after that run.  We're doing our long run then so we can ride long Saturday and race Jack's Generic Triathlon on Sunday.
-  I'm looking forward to the first time I can finish a long run and plunge straight into Barton Springs to cool off and "ice" my legs.
-  I'll be very happy when my company moves to its permanent office in the middle of August.  I'm in the middle of nowhere right now - Thursday night I looked down and I'd driven 60 miles that day!!  That is quite a difference from my typical driving day in Houston.
-  The evenings here feel sooooooooo amazing.  I hope I don't start taking that for granted...if I do, I'll just spend a night or two in Houston and I'll appreciate the lower humidity again.
-  It has rained in my car twice in the last 3 days.  Oops.  I have left the sunroof vented and two separate times crazy storms came in (Forrest Gump sideways rain kind of storms) and the water blew into my car.  Good thing I keep no less than 2 towels in there at all times!

Still here. Still infertile.

Sigh.  Here we are again.  We knew all along we would be able to start the process for baby #2 when Sloane was nine months old.  I had said we did not necessarily want kids that close together, but knew just because we started then did not mean we would get pregnant then.  If I had only known how true that is becoming.  Silly us had started having visions of three kids.  The only way we can have three kids is to have things go smoothly, not lose embryos, and not lose time.  Well, so far we have lost an embryo and a lot of time in the quest for our next baby. I breezed through prep for our transfer in early May.  The stress load was so much less than before because I thought we had it figured out.  We had Sloane as a great distraction.  My lining was better than it has ever been before - by far.  Then, the day after Mother's Day, I found out it did not work.  And I was immediately thrown back into the depths of infertility hell....

Into the Donor Egg World We Go

As I sit down to write this, I'm shocked to see February 27, 2022 was the last post I've written about our IVF journey.  In some ways, it seems like so much has happened over the last year, and on the other hand it seems like nothing has happened at all because we are back to square one. I'll provide a quick summary of the last year, but please understand this won't even begin to describe the true roller coaster ride we have been on.  I actually don't think it is even appropriate to call it a roller coaster because that indicates there are some ups.  Our ride has been more like a train ride through hell. After our failed transfer in February, we decided to take a break in March to let my body rest a bit before transferring our next embryo.  During that time, a friend reached out and told me about her friend that hadn't had success here but did at CCRM in Colorado.  At the time it almost felt like a divine intervention, but I now know better.  We spent seven...

We did it!
