More Random Thoughts

-  Supercuts rocks!  Seriously.  I needed the back of my new short haircut trimmed but wasn't about to enlist my $80 a pop guy to do it.  So I figured since it is a pretty choppy haircut, it would be fairly hard to mess up.  Well, it took the lady all of 5 minutes and she charged me all of $5 for a "neck trim."  Totally made my day and made her a 100% tip.

-  I guess "Spring" is over in Houston because the humidity is back in full force.  Friday's ride was the first time I've been completely soaked in months, and this morning I had bugs stuck to my face after my run.  Awesome.

-  Is it considered a sin to pour Miller Lite over Blue Bell Ice Cream in Brenham on Good Friday?  If so, good thing it wasn't me who did it :-)
-  It is safe to say the Silverlake Open Water Swim course was a bit shorter this time around than it was for their last race in October.  I was faster this time in both the half mile and mile, yet I'm no where near the swim shape (or any shape) now that I was then, and a girl I beat in both last time beat me quite easily this time around (and also apparently announced her only goal for that day was "to beat Kathleen W" - I'm not sure if I've ever heard that before...I guess I'm glad I helped her reach her goal?!)

-  Monica and I didn't drown in said swim, which was a high possibility for both of us considering we did our long run (14 miles) just before the swim.  I was worried I'd have some serious calf/feet cramping issues but I think the wetsuit probably helped keep those at bay.  I actually did have to perform a small Baywatch maneuver on Monica after she rocked out her mile race - her legs at least waited until she finished the race, but then they decided to cramp up big time so I used my trusty 14 yr old lifeguarding skills to get her to shallower water.

-  I have something living in my apartment - for the first time in way over a year.  Let's see how long it takes for me to kill it.
-  After a little more thought, I've glad to have discovered that Houston has its very own double black ski slope should it ever actually snow enough to use it - Spotts Park.  Thursday's Tour de Bayou run is still haunting me!  I was scared to run down half of those hills because they were so steep, and know I wouldn't have skied down them either!

-  I played Easter Bunny in Beaumont and got Mom and Dad an Easer Basket of their own.  It had compression socks, an ace bandage, an ice pack, sport beans, and dark chocolate with almonds in it.  Mom needs that stuff with her new athletic endeavors (they did EIGHT miles on Saturday!!!) and Dad can use his healthy chocolate to fuel up before his tennis matches.

-  I switched to the "new and improved latest and greatest" blog editor and like it and all but there is NO spell check?!? Is that possible?  Am I just missing it?

Yeah, Friday was humid for a bike ride. Kendall and I had to ditch the arm warmers pretty quick.

The hills in Spotts Park are wicked steep but I have used them for hill training. You just have to make sure to do it when no one is around. Trying to stop mid way down to avoid crashing into someone or their dog would be pretty hard.

Still here. Still infertile.

Sigh.  Here we are again.  We knew all along we would be able to start the process for baby #2 when Sloane was nine months old.  I had said we did not necessarily want kids that close together, but knew just because we started then did not mean we would get pregnant then.  If I had only known how true that is becoming.  Silly us had started having visions of three kids.  The only way we can have three kids is to have things go smoothly, not lose embryos, and not lose time.  Well, so far we have lost an embryo and a lot of time in the quest for our next baby. I breezed through prep for our transfer in early May.  The stress load was so much less than before because I thought we had it figured out.  We had Sloane as a great distraction.  My lining was better than it has ever been before - by far.  Then, the day after Mother's Day, I found out it did not work.  And I was immediately thrown back into the depths of infertility hell....

Into the Donor Egg World We Go

As I sit down to write this, I'm shocked to see February 27, 2022 was the last post I've written about our IVF journey.  In some ways, it seems like so much has happened over the last year, and on the other hand it seems like nothing has happened at all because we are back to square one. I'll provide a quick summary of the last year, but please understand this won't even begin to describe the true roller coaster ride we have been on.  I actually don't think it is even appropriate to call it a roller coaster because that indicates there are some ups.  Our ride has been more like a train ride through hell. After our failed transfer in February, we decided to take a break in March to let my body rest a bit before transferring our next embryo.  During that time, a friend reached out and told me about her friend that hadn't had success here but did at CCRM in Colorado.  At the time it almost felt like a divine intervention, but I now know better.  We spent seven...

We did it!
