Austin, Here I Come!!!

I am soooo excited about my little weekend adventure in Austin. It will be a change of scenery at just the right time. The only issue now is I am afraid I planned waaaaay too much in way too short of a time frame.

Jon and I are driving up later tonight, enjoying a lovely picnic dinner in the car (Zoe's, of course). Tomorrow morning, I'm running 14 miles with the Rogue training group around campus and Hyde Park, some of my old stomping grounds. The lady I spoke with said "we're running here and here, which won't be hilly." Ha! I looked at the route...there are indeed many many hills. For you Austinites, you might not call them hills, but this Houstonian calls them hills for sure. After my run with the group, Jon is going to meet up with me and we'll finish up my run on the Town Lake trail - probably one of my favorite places to run.

After that, Jon and I are heading to Gruene to meet up with my sister's family for lunch. Whohoo! I haven't seen the girls in a while and I always look forward to spending time with them.

Sometime Saturday afternoon/evening, we need to swim. We'll see if that happens. Dinner Saturday will be something low key, perhaps some "Japanese Food Fast" from Zen, which is very close to where we are staying.
Sunday morning we're heading out for a ride I may regret soon after starting. I picked some of the "funnest" spots in town to bike...but they also have some huuuge hills. This week will be a shorter ride as the planned route is 76 miles. How sad is it when I say 76 miles is a shorter ride? Especially when I will climb more in those 76 miles than I did during the 101 miles I rode last weekend? Oh well. So far I'm super excited about the ride. It will be hard, but I think it will be equally as rewarding as it is challenging. After that I have aspirations of maybe going to Mansfield Damn at Lake Travis to swim, but realize a bed may be all I want by that point.

(We're biking over this bridge!)

Sunday night is date night. Jon and I are going to dinner at a nice restaurant on South Congress very close to where we are staying, then we are going to see Kelly Willis play at the Continental Club. The show is at 8:30, so hopefully we can stay up that late!

Monday is the CapTex triathlon on Town Lake. The course comes almost to where we are staying, so I imagine we will catch a good part of the race that morning. We have no plans yet for Monday morning other than to eat breakfast, and will probably walk downtown to do that, and watch the race in the process. The rest of Monday is up in the air, but might involve a run, a swim, kayaking, shopping, or just sleeping and eating. Yes, sleeping and eating will probably win. I may have to hit the Mr. Gatti's buffet on MLK. There is not one anywhere close to me here...trust me, I've looked.

It will be entertaining when I report back Monday night to see how much of this actually happened, but I'm hoping I have the energy for most of it. This weekend and the next are my last two big weekends of training before my taper and I'm hoping by shaking things up a little this weekend that I will have the last bit of energy left that I will need to hold on for one more week.

I'm sooo jealous. We're big Kelly fans and have been going through withdrawals since she stopped touring. Have a great time.

Still here. Still infertile.

Sigh.  Here we are again.  We knew all along we would be able to start the process for baby #2 when Sloane was nine months old.  I had said we did not necessarily want kids that close together, but knew just because we started then did not mean we would get pregnant then.  If I had only known how true that is becoming.  Silly us had started having visions of three kids.  The only way we can have three kids is to have things go smoothly, not lose embryos, and not lose time.  Well, so far we have lost an embryo and a lot of time in the quest for our next baby. I breezed through prep for our transfer in early May.  The stress load was so much less than before because I thought we had it figured out.  We had Sloane as a great distraction.  My lining was better than it has ever been before - by far.  Then, the day after Mother's Day, I found out it did not work.  And I was immediately thrown back into the depths of infertility hell....

Into the Donor Egg World We Go

As I sit down to write this, I'm shocked to see February 27, 2022 was the last post I've written about our IVF journey.  In some ways, it seems like so much has happened over the last year, and on the other hand it seems like nothing has happened at all because we are back to square one. I'll provide a quick summary of the last year, but please understand this won't even begin to describe the true roller coaster ride we have been on.  I actually don't think it is even appropriate to call it a roller coaster because that indicates there are some ups.  Our ride has been more like a train ride through hell. After our failed transfer in February, we decided to take a break in March to let my body rest a bit before transferring our next embryo.  During that time, a friend reached out and told me about her friend that hadn't had success here but did at CCRM in Colorado.  At the time it almost felt like a divine intervention, but I now know better.  We spent seven...

We did it!
